Reading Football Club has announced that Reading Women will return under its umbrella ahead of the 2026/27 season, marking an exciting new chapter for the club. The Women's First Team will resume training at Bearwood Park, with selected home matches to be played at the Select Car Leasing Stadium. This decision comes after the women's team was withdrawn from the Championship two years ago, a move that drew criticism from the Supporters' Trust at Reading (STAR) for its impact on community and gender equality. The club's new ownership under Rob Couhig, who finalized the agreement in 2025, aims to restore the women's team's prestige and success. Co-operating manager Rick Catania emphasized the importance of having a women's football club as part of the community. The club plans to integrate the Women's First Team with the Under-16s and Under-14s sides, creating a clear pathway for young female players. Furthermore, Reading FC will live stream Women's First Team fixtures on its official YouTube channel, enhancing visibility and support for the team.
