Young defender Michael Hector is reportedly gaining interest from
Premier League side Norwich City and Championship side West Ham,
according to SkySports.com.
The 19-year old, current on loan
at League Two outfit Barnet, has been a big hit at Underhill. He has
been putting in some fine defensive performances that have helped the
Bee's move out of the relegation zone and to a Johnstone's Paint Cup
Area Final.
Hector is even being dubbed the new Chris Smalling,
following his growth from non-league and numerous spells at lower
division clubs. He has spent time at clubs such as Didcot Town, Havant
and Waterlooville, as well as a spell at Irish side Dunkalk.
The East Ham born defender
is out of contract in the summer and would therefore be allowed to
speak to other clubs if him and Reading cannot agree an extension in the
next few months. However, a club would have to pay some compensation as
he is under the age of 24.
